I am Angela Grant.
By focusing on high quality instruction, a welcoming culture and a safe environment for all, I am here to make sure every Bear Scholar receives a high quality education from Pre-K through 5th Grade.
I am a believer in the power of public education to make a difference in the lives of students and continue to advance our city, state and nation. Today in America the quality of education that our children receive often depends on a few factors: the income of their family, their address, and pure luck. At Winterfield, we work daily to ensure high levels of achievement for every student we are blessed and honored to serve. I do not believe income, address or luck should be a factor in our education system.
I am exited to begin my first year as principal of Winterfield Elementary School.
I have served children as a member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district for 11 years. I began my career as an 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher (Kennedy Middle and Marie G. Davis Middle) and I have served as an Curriculum Resource Teacher (Central Office), Curriculum Coordinator (Central Office), Academic Facilitator (Southwest Middle), Resident Principal (Albemarle Road Middle), Assistant Principal (John Taylor Middle), and Principal (Shamrock Gardens Elementary). I was named principal of Shamrock Gardens in July, 2011, and had the pleasure of serving there for three wonderful years.
As principal of Winterfield Elementary School, I will focus my efforts on providing a compelling vision for student success, establishing systems to make our mission a reality and leading teachers and staff to increase student achievement. I am honored to be doing this work.
I pride myself on building trusting relationships with teachers and parents. My door is always open to provide support or to address challenges that may be faced.
I enjoy reading a wide range of books, watching great movies, crafting, cooking great food and spending time with my husband and three boys.
